Royal Weddings and updates :)

Though I was very excited about the wedding I wasnt too keen on going into London and dealing with the masses and probably not seeing much when I could watch it in the comfort of my home/pub and see everything. The closer the wedding got the more I wanted to be in London and to be one of the masses and maybe see a horses ear as they passed by. Well then now I was convinced but I still had the matter of convincing the boy... he wasnt thrilled at the thought and even more so when he heard the 5:30 start time...even more so because he had a boys night with Ben and Chaz and some guy name Giles.... but realizing that I would be moping around all day if he didnt agree to go and seeing an opportunity to score some major points he said "ugggh ok". And that was that and I was on the computer trying to decide where we should try to go and the best way to get there. YIPPEEE. All of this was decided upon at about 1:30 am...and I was too excited to sleep :)

sleepy boy
We got up...well I was awake at least he slept walked to the station...got ready and off we went...expecting to fight to get on tubes and what not...but...it was the easist time getting into London that we have ever had...no crowds and everyone was just as excited as me...face painted and all...I would have but I thought buying face paint before i convinced him to go was a but presumptuous. But as soon as we got out St. James station we were greeted by thousands of people...but still it wasnt too hard to get around...but finding a spot to see anything (including a horses ear) was near impossible...but we found a spot behind a camera tower that we could see bother directions just not in front of us...met some nice people and settled in for the next 3 hours to see anything...spirits were high everyone cheering (even for the street cleaner) and it was just amazing. I was so proud of my new country and so excited to share this with everyone. I tried to take pictures or the cars passing but it was hard and ended up not seeing what I was trying to take a picture of anyways. We waved and cheered and had general excitement about the whole thing... Maybe the most amazing part was they had loud speakers up where we were so though we couldnt see anything we heard the entire ceremony. A hush came over the entire crowd and everyone just listened...I dont have words to describe the feeling. People from every corner of the world bowed their head at the prayers...sang Welsh songs...and gave the loudest cheer I have ever heard when they were pronounced man and wife...it was truly a moment were everyone came together...we watched as everyone came back in their carriages and that was equally amazing.

that there would be the masses

While we tried to get down the Mall to see the kiss we sadly could hardly even see the palace remembered we hadnt eaten a thing all day and needed to sit so we trekked off hoping to beat the crowd a little. We walked and walked and walked...saw the fly by which made Sedge a happy boy and made it worth it for him and really we probably got a better view of it than if we had been at the Mall. We ended up down by St. Paul's and Tower Bridge...it was a bit of a trek after standing for 5 hours...but that part of the city was practically empty and peaceful. We ate had our PIMM'S and headed back home... All and all I could not be more pleased by us going and we can now say we were there...
on our trek

cupcakes, TV's, strange English behaviour,Tom Waits, and bees

yep I made those
So if you know me very well at all you know that I have a stupid weakness for cupcakes...(well and tomatoes but never together). Thankfully there isn't a fantastic cupcake place in good ol' Stortford, or at least I haven’t found one. So with this I set out to make cupcakes. Now also if you know me very well baking is not one of my 'things'...cooking yes, kinda, but baking not so much. BUT I had to give it a shot....and.... they were amazing! They were just vanilla with a buttercream frosting but I didn’t want to go all fancy just yet, but I am plotting some lemon raspberry melt in your mouth amazingness soon.

WE GOT OUR TV :) I woke up early to make sure that I would be awake for the delivery guys to call, and of course they got lost and heck if I know even really what street I live off of...but they laughed and found us anyways...I don’t dare open the box though, I'll give Sedge the pleasure at lunch :)

you know you've seen these and giggled
Anyhoodle, So the weather has been absolutely amazing and sunny and kinda warm!! By kinda warm mean like 67 degrees...to me that’s winter-ish but I'll be damned these crazy Brits were in very little clothing and acting like it was the middle of summer...it was very strange...its not that warm... it is kind of cute to be honest they are just so excited... They brought out their shorts and EURO MAN CAPRIS (you know what I am talking about...think about a past experience at Disneyland...they are too tight to be shorts and too sort to be pants...it was epic...it was like spotting a mullet in the wild) and EVERYONE had bbqs, including the Sedgwicks'...it felt a little funny huddling by the bbq pit for warmth after the sun went down with our "burnt offerings" as the dad-in-law put it but it was a good showing none the less. But I'll be honest I did love the sun and soaked it in like everyone else and even wore my sunglasses it was glorious. I suppose keep what everyone and their mom is saying to heart "you better enjoy this, this is our summer"...but I refuse.

Now if you know my hubby even just a bit you know he has a slight man crush on Tom Waits he has 483 of his 'songs' and clips...If you don’t know who Tom Waits is be thankful...if you do I'm sorry...unless you like him..in which case you need help. Just kidding...kind of...Now this Tom Waits character has a deep scruffy voice (which Sedge thinks has down spot on...) made from too many years of whiskey  and smoking...and he writes weird lyrics with weird noises that just kinda mush together to make weird music. But I am sad to say...it's kind of growing on me...I don’t know if its because of all the force listenings when Sedge looks like a kid and says "LOOK! Mal come here and listen!!!" and you cant really say no cause he is sooo excited. I think I will go listen to Katy Perry now aka the anti Tom Waits...

and now a PSA for bees:

To wasps/hornets/whatever kind of deadly bee thing you are:
I may be new to this country but don’t think me as a fool...just because Americans are classified as friendly does not mean I am going to open any of my doors or windows when you bang into them and ask if you are alright...momma always said don’t talk to strangers... now just go bug some other 'newbie' and let me open my doors...or... I will have no choice and will have to get crazy on your butt and kill you...now you don’t want that do you...think it over...
toodles

-Donny Darko is just a weird movie

randoms...

Well we've been back for almost 7 weeks and that is just crazy...it seems like we have only been back a week three weeks top. I still have not ventured on the train/tube by myself yet but thats coming.... I think...  We got grown up plates!! (you know the kind where they actually cost more than a dollar and you dont just buy them coz they 'will do' you actually like them) I never apperciated grown up plates until now...and our TV is getting delievered on Monday...we can only watch so many DVD's and claim that we dont need a TV because we like to read one of our many leather bound books and stuff and play music ....I need commercials...I need to stop watching a live stream of eagles whoes eggs are about to hatch because I am having withdraawls from reality TV... I need catch up on terrible celeb gossip...ok I dont NEED to but you catch my drift... THEY HAVE MASSIVE BUMBLEBEES
deliverer of death ^
It’s all Spicoli’s fault BTW
here and they like to fly into our flat and scare me to death, I had a good hour and a half stand off with one before I got him out...it was traumatic. On a lighter note we seem to have a lady bugs everywhere...but they are cute so I cant be too upset. I finally got my national insurance number and starting to apply for jobs...which is also just weird. All it seems I hear is  "Americans' just sound dumb"... alright cool so how on earth am I going to sound smart on a job app?? But thats a whole other thing, I just need to buck-up and have the "I am American and I can do anything...oh but did i mention I'm rather charming" thinking again. I've done a bit of traveling with mum-in-law and the sis-in-law... this place is BEAUTIFUL, the country side and the old towns everything...well not everything Ware is kinda out of sorts and Harlow is just..
.dont even get me started....oh and the beach I went to with mum, Brighton
was alll pebbels it was crazy! Also the weather really hasnt been "gloomy and raining all the time" like everyone promised... as I type there are amazing white fluffy clouds and super blue sky...AND we didn't even take our coats into London this weekend. (Oh and a side note when the heck did I get so old?? I used to be able to run off of like 3 hours sleep and be awesome now I am zombie like with anything less than 6.)

Oh and my darling husband played at the local acoustic club at the Half Moon pub...and he was ammmmazing! I was such a proud wife, I would upload the recording but he just might hurt me if I do.

and now for some random thoughts and facts:

- I do in fact have an accent over here and sometimes people dont understand my American-ness :(
-People will always either offer you tea or some other type of drink within about 10 minutes of coming in...its awesome
-radiators make great towel warmers
-getting everything sorted to even start to find a job is insane
- everyone thinks the high schools back in the US are exactly like either High School Musical/90210/Glee
-London is insane and still a bit intimidating
-I dont like foxs' they screech like dying things at all hours of the night...
- I love a Sunday roast
-not everyone is grumpy just most
-frying pans only stay "non-stick" for so long
-husbands are amazing for taking out the massive dead bumble bee that you discover in your bed room when you come home from a weekend away
-i miss American food
-I now know how to send sprinkle cupcakes to my friends
-a dance party by yourself on the train is not as much fun as in the comfort of your own car...and your husband will still look at you funny...if not more so...
